Hi, I’m Ro.
I have always had a strong tendency towards all things aesthetic. Whether it was 6-year-old me obsessively watching HGTV and building design-forward homes on the SIMS computer game or adult me who majored in Film Studies, has a background in Interior Design and is a visual artist. My sharp design eye feels like something I was born with, however, my professional experiences have fostered my talent and added more tools to my belt.
I received a Bachelors degree in Film Studies from University of Colorado in 2015. Studying film, trained me in the areas of composition, balance, texture, framing, and lighting. I love visually dramatic films that tell story through their picture and use of lighting just as much as through character development and dialogue. I had dreams of becoming a fancy, Hollywood set designer, but went in the direction of residential interior design instead. I love incorporating what I learned in film school into designing spaces. I love using lighting, color, texture and thoughtful vignette to invoke certain feelings - just as film does so beautifully.
I kicked off my design career in event design. I designed mainly weddings and loved the meticulous work of creating table-scapes, wedding arches, photo booth backdrops, flower arrangements, and incorporating small, personal details to bring the couple’s vision to life. From event design, I moved into residential interior design with my position at Havenly Interior Design. Havenly is an online interior design platform, so I worked solely off videos, pictures and dimensions of the space I was designing. I became proficient in Adobe Photoshop to create concept boards and 3D renderings of my design as well as space planning and layout software.
My path most recently ventured into the world of luxury vacation rental design with the travel club, Inspirato. This role was equal parts project manager and interior designer. My role was to successfully onboard new homes into the portfolio from a design perspective. This included spec visits, creating detailed budgets to bring homes up to company standards, working with our high-end furniture partners to source all FF&E needed and creating a coherent, elevated design, shopping for and shipping all art and decor. Then I traveled internationally to the project sight to manage multi-day design installs, including hiring and managing vendors and movers, staging decor, wrapping up loose ends and ensuring the home was ready for guests. This job solidified my skills in project management including: immense attention to detail, the ability to wear many hats and juggle many projects at once, sharp problem-solving abilities, over the top preparedness and on the ground grittiness.
My love for design runs deep and each of my roles has shaped me into the organized, detail-oriented, sharp, collaborative, forward-thinking designer that I am. I love forward to seeing where my passion for design leads me next.
